For the past three years Maths Centre North West was involved in five learner focused project and one teacher training project (Advanced Certificate in Education for Mathematical Literacy) accredited by NMMU. The latter project was successfully run in all regions of the North West Province with support and sponsorship of the North West Department of Education, Anglo Platinum, Anglo American and De Beers. The success of this project is confirmed by the number of teachers who successfully completed the course. These teachers can now handle the new curriculum in Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy and Physical Science with expertise and confidence. At GET level, intensive intervention was done in Mathematics only. Educators have been supported/workshoped and their schools were equipped with relevant learning resources to brake down the abstract and demise of the fear of mathematics. The centre continues to support educators and learners.

In addition to the above, growing minds of upcoming engineers are nurtured down in the Bophirima region through the support of Murray and Roberts. Irrespective of the remoteness of the selected school the trainer continues to capacitate educators in Technology education.

In all our endeavors Maths Centre and the Department of Education work hand in hand. This relationship grows from strength to strength.
