Shortage of African professionals in South Africa and the lack of command in curriculum delivery in schools for scarce skill subjects such as Mathematics saw Maths Centre implementing an intervention programme for selected schools in the Vhembe District. The region is rich in Baobab fruit, called “mbuyu” in Tshivenda, hence the name of the project “Mbuyu Zenex Project”. One of the project objectives is to improve the quality of teaching and learning in participating schools with respect to Numeracy and Mathematics; a field that Maths Centre prides itself in.
In its first year of inception, traces of transfer of learning are beginning to show.
