This ICT project is aimed at improving the performance results of learners in Maths and Science by improving learning of concepts and train teachers to develop skills for effective use of digital educational content for teaching inside the classroom. The project commenced in February 2010 and will run until December 2010.
School labs at Greenpoint and East London High were installed with the latest version of the Edukite curriculum software for Grades 10, 11 and 12 for Maths and Science. These schools will serve as training centers. These labs will also be used for learner interventions at the respective schools.
Follow-up training of teachers on the Edukite software and classroom intervention with learners as well as classroom support for teachers will be provided. Workshops for learners (Grade 12), to expose them to basic computer skills as well as access to the Edukite software will also be conducted.
Mr. P. Sinuka, (Provincial DCES for MSTE) welcomed this initiative as it is directly connecting to the Turn Around Strategy of the Eestern Cape DoE. According to the DoE, more projects like these will definitely improve the Maths and Science knowledge at our schools.
