Maths Centre was contracted by JET Education Services, in collaboration with the SADTU Curtis Nkondo Professional Development Institute (SCNPDI) to conduct the Foundation Phase Numeracy CAPS training for approximately 386 delegates in KwaZulu Natal.

The training took the form of an orientation workshop that was held on 19 January 2012 at the Elangeni Hotel in Central Durban. The SADTU lead teachers were orientated on the CAPS document for approximately 3 hours. The delegates were engaged fully during the session. Facilitation was conducted by Maths Centre's KZN Provincial Manager and a field trainer. In the evening session the lead teachers were helped with designing flip charts and other support materials that were to be used at their facilitation workshops with classroom educators.
