Cell C representatives together with Maths Centre staff conducted a site visit for the Maths, Science and Accounting Enrichment Project for grade 11 and 12 learners in Mpumalanga.
Five schools were selected for the Cell C project namely Sophungane, Ntiyi, Ndzabu, Lugebhuta and Njeyeza. The project is normally conducted at Sophungane and Lugebutha.
The aims of the project are:
- to evaluate the progress and impact of the project;
- explain other programmes (MOmaths and Computer Applied Technology) that are being planned by Cell C;
- to identify challenges and find solutions.
Principals, Department of Education officials, teachers and learners of the project schools expressed their appreciation for the impact that the project is making.
Cell C representatives informed principals, teachers and Department of Education officials of their (Cell C in partnership with Nokia) plan to introduce MOmaths and Computer Applied Technology to enhance the teaching and learning of Mathematics, Science and Accounting.
It was explained that through MOmaths, learners will be able to use their cell phones to have access to learning programmes for free. These programmes are designed to be in line with the curriculum requirements of the Department of Education.
