On the 13th of May 2011 principals from around Gauteng gathered at Bytes Conference Centre in Midrand for the annual South African Principals' Association (SAPA) conference. An event organised by SAPA. SAPA is an organisation for school leaders which is committed to providing professional development and personal growth, where principals are given the platform to share ideas and grow in their profession.

The motto of the day was that South African schools should not be a missed opportunity. The day was filled with a lot of inspiring speeches from different individuals Such as Mpho Moloi a grade 11 learner at Midrand High who presented a talk on "The generation mistaken for madness" and another inspirational speaker Nozipho Mbanjwa who presented a talk on winning saying that "as a leader or an individual, you should choose to be a winner, compete against yourself and fight to win".

Maths Centre CEO Sharanjeet Shan said that children's potential is often underestimated and encouraged principals to put clear mandates with their staff and persuade them through excellent training so that they can be confident in their subject matter. She further asked the principals the following question: "Atoms boil at 212 Fahrenheit, which degree will bring you to that boiling state? Is it 209, 210, or 211, In terms of leadership and ownership? How will one help, guide and support the African child and making sure that their potential is unleashed?"

Maths Centre's National Executive Director, Sharanjeet Shan said that children's potential is often underestimated and encouraged principals to put clear mandates with their staff and persuade them through excellent training so that they can be confident in their subject matter.

The day was inspirational for all who were present, Mr. Enoch Thango a deputy principal said "I have truly learned a lot of things I would start to implement at my school and have made a note of some of the things that were said".

Indeed SAPA presented a platform for sharing wisdom and best practises.
