A service level agreement for teacher development was reached between the Gauteng Department of Education and the Sci-bono Discovery Centre. Encompassed by the agreement, is the in-service training of permanently employed teachers on content and methodological practices. The training was therefore designed and delivered by the Maths Centre in the Gauteng Province. The beneficiaries were a total 29 senior phase educators working at schools clustered in the Gauteng East district and 27 senior phase educators working at schools clustered in the Sedibeng Wets district. The training lasted for 15 days, which is equivalent to 105 hours.
The training was done on the content and methodological practices in Mathematics Senior phase) and Natural Science (senior phase).
The primary purpose of the training was to ensure that at the end, participating beneficiaries have sufficient confidence in the acquired knowledge and can easily and creatively transfer it to the learners. Having gone through every detail of all facts noted on daily basis regarding the progression of the participant especially, it is was proven that the objectives of this training were successfully realized.
