17 March 2011 - Maths Centre Limpopo was invited to the Greater Sekhukhune District Excellence Awards ceremony. In his speech, the District Senior Manager, Mr T G Nkadimeng conveyed a special thanks and gratitude to NGO service providers for the support rendered to schools in curriculum matters. He indicated that the NGO's helped to stabilise the schools after the 2010 disturbances, and that the results of the circuits improved due to the support and assistance by service providers such as Maths Centre (funded by Engen and Transnet). Unexpectedly, towards the end of the programme, gifts were awarded to the NGO teams; a watch engraved "2010 Excellence Awards, Sekhukhune Education department".
It was a glorious moment, when some of our schools received awards:
- Mahwetse - the most improved school;
- Glen Cowie - CELL C, one of the top 10 with a learner obtaining five distinctions;
- Molomoatau - a learner obtained 5 distinctions;
- Motubatse - 100% pass rate overall and more than 25% bachelors.
Credit goes to the trainers who did their best to support schools.
