On Tuesday 12 October 2010 many distinguished guests were present at Nkosinathi High School to witness the handing over of electronic equipment to 5 schools namely, Nkosinathi High, Dumehlezi High, Mqhawe High, Mvaba High and Umtapo High.
Present were Di-Kolpe-Napier (Key Accounts Manager from Powertech Transformers); Mr Irshad Motala (KZN Head Office MST and ICT Division); Mr Moses Mogamberry (KZN Chief Subject Education Specialist – Mathematics); P Zondi (Ethekwini Electricity Division) and Principals and educators from the 5 project schools.
The Principal of each school was presented with a laptop that was pre-loaded with Edukite Maths and Physical Science software, a data projector and a printer by the Funder; Di-Kolpe-Napier. In his address to the gathering, Mr Mogamberry thanked Powertech Transformers for their valuable contribution to the schools. He implored the educators to make maximum use of the electronic equipment to enhance their teaching and not to let them stand idle.
Mr BB Nkosi, Principal of Nkosinathi High, thanked Powertech Transformers and Maths Centre for the support provided to the 5 schools since 2008. He assured the gathering that with the use of the new software the results at his school will definitely improve even more this year. After lunch; the educators from the 5 schools were taken through training on the use of the laptop, data projector and the Edukite software. Training was conducted by Moloko Malahlela from Maths Centre Training Unit and Aravind V. Director of Edukite. During the recess many guests visited the Maths Centre resource counter to view the resources that are on sale.
